Design in Action! Millions of liters of water saved; Meet the waterless, No-Odo urinals from Hyderabad based start-up.

‘‘I still remember those days, as a child, when I used to walk miles to fetch water for daily usage in my village. Later on, as a working professional, I used to travel long distances in trains; where toilets became a nightmare because of its unhygienic conditions. Probably, most of us came across the same situation. But when I started realizing a simple mechanism, it could be a potential solution to address key problems associated with urinals; water saving; and Odo. After an intensive R&D for about four years, waterless urinal design came out; and now it is in Action”, told naturesani’s founder & director Bhupati with a happy face.

First of its kind; No Odo, touch free & waterless urinal stands were installed in several public places like Hyderabad Metro station, Indian Railways, GMR Udaan bhavan, Krishna patnam port & government schools.

These urinal designs are aesthetic look; and environment-friendly building materials.

How Waterless urinal works?

The traditional urinal systems, with automated flushing, waste 500 – 750 ml of water per each flush. Naturesani urinal system can save you an estimated 96% of water and cleaning chemicals. This translates to savings on water, water logistics cost and electricity cost as per their research.

The commode of the urinal is a curved profile; and a non-stick coating to ensure maximum slippery index. This ensures that all the urine and water which is poured on it, slips and does not stick to the urinal basin.

Cartridge has a unique hydro-mechanical valve which is made out of ‘Non-Stick’ material and the internal housing of the cartridge is made of high-glossy finish to ensure highest possible flow through. The cartridge is certified by CIPET which brings about the ‘Odourless’, ‘Waterless’ and ‘Hygienic’ nature of the urinal commode.

These urinal stands are free from dangerous and hazardous gases like hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, methane, esters, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide which emanat from thesewers and lavatory drains.

Waterless urinal is also listed as an Innovative Technology and Potential has been Verified and Approved by Dr.Mashelkar Committee, Govt. of India after extensive tests and demonstrations.

As per naturesani’s marketing team, these urinals are potential to save corresponding electricity costs for pumping water into overhead tanks. So we ensure the social return of investment (SROI) within low time of installation depending on the usage of commodes.

The installation of the urinal is also quite easy while complete in 3 steps procedure. Any plumber; and does not need any special skills or tools. It can be mounted on 2 hooks which need to be fit to the wall area with the provided screws”, Mr. Bhupati pointed out the potential of the model.

“Nature itself is a beautiful design; and if our design can improve its beauty further, definitely that will come into action” and he concluded.

It is one of the perfect examples, how one’s environmental concern & love could open gates to explore ecopreneurship opportunities.
